ABOUT MARIANO HENESTROSA
Born in 1983 in Madrid, Spain, Mariano Henestrosa is a painter and illustrator based in Brooklyn, New York. Having earned an MFA at the New York Studio School and a BFA at the Complutense University in Madrid, his education combines the artistic tradition of both America and Europe.
With over 15 years of experience, he works in a wide variety of mediums and styles, being drawing his favorite medium. His illustrations have been published in books and magazines, while his paintings have been shown in New York and internationally, being present in numerous private collections in Madrid, London and New York, including the Louis-Dreyfus Family Collection.
Along with his personal work, Mariano specializes in all sorts of custom made art. From the brand based paintings he does through Henestrosa Studio, to hand painted signs, murals or traditional and modern portraiture and illustration.
Besides drawing or painting he enjoys reading, watching movies, traveling, eating, and spending time with his family and friends.

ARTIST STATEMENT
As a painter, my work explores different ways to generate and/or extract forms from whatever subjects I work with. Usually this happens by a process of fragmentation, taking things apart and then reassembling them in ways that create new forms which are interesting to me, both abstract and figurative.
