ABOUT MARIANO HENESTROSA

Born in 1983 in Madrid, Spain, Mariano Henestrosa is a painter and illustrator based in Brooklyn, New York. Having earned an MFA at the New York Studio School and a BFA at the Complutense University in Madrid, his education combines the artistic tradition of both America and Europe.

With over 15 years of experience, he works in a wide variety of mediums and styles, being drawing his favorite medium. Besides drawing or painting he enjoys reading, watching movies, traveling, eating, and spending time with his family and friends.

ARTIST STATEMENT

As a painter, my work explores different ways to generate and/or extract forms from whatever subjects I work with. Usually this happens by a process of fragmentation, taking things apart and then reassembling them in ways that create new forms which are interesting to me, both abstract and figurative.
